About The Event
Iyengar Yoga is a form of yoga with a focus on the structural alignment of the physical body through the practice of asanas/poses. It differs from other styles of yoga in three ways: precision, sequence and use of props. Precision is sought in body alignment in every asana. Through its focus on alignment, Iyengar Yoga helps you strengthen the muscles of the body responsible for posture, like the legs, back and core. With minor adjustments to improve alignment, the small muscles that are often ignored become stronger. Detail-oriented and slow-paced, beginners and advanced students can both benefit from this traditional class. The intelligent use of props allows each student to get into poses safely with correct alignment and bodily awareness.
In this class, Sherie will guide you through 'supported' yoga poses using Iyengar Ropes or Yoga Kurunta and other props. The ropes will be used to go deeper into poses and support the body to help you achieve a very satisfying stretch and deep relaxation in the end. Sherie has dedicated her teaching in advocating the practice of Iyengar Ropes for its therapeutic benefits. She has trained and still studies with Masters of Iyengar Yoga and the most experienced senior teacher of Ropes Yoga in Chicagoland. Pioneering the practice of Ropes Yoga in Mokena, she is the most sought 'teacher's teacher' of Ropes. Sherie loves teaching the use of Ropes to both kids and adults.
Class is held in a private studio location in Mokena, IL. Address will be sent upon registration. The Zen Space is set within a spacious 1-acre yard, designed to give you a peaceful place where you can relax and rebalance your Zen. Guests must bring their own mats & other props for their comfort. There will be assigned spaces to safely distance. Face coverings are encouraged upon checking in and may be removed once guests arrive on their mats. Temperature checks will be done for everyone's safety.
